Closing in a porch

We have an open porch on our house and want to close it in with a window and a door. Do we need planning permission??

Definitely not if you retain the existing front door. You may need building regs permission. Ask your council.

What I mean is that the porch must be outside the front door of the house.

We have been thinking about doing this and in our area we do need permission.


Permitted development rights (for the last two or so years) are restricted - though there is no fee for the application.
