I'm really not into all these fines. What good do they do the consumer?

Energy company misses a target - gets fined - reflects the cost of "doing business" in their prices, so consumer ultimately ends up paying for their incompetence.

Now if the fines were taken directly off the Directors salaries...
  • Erm, why is the money being paid to charity?

By avoiding the installation of energy efficiency measures, the energy firms make more money.

Either they should be forced to spend this money on energy efficiency (maybe doing up social housing) or the amount should be allocated back to Government, ringfenced to improve energy efficiency so as to put these shysters out of business.
