    Debt-free and Proud!
I'll have potatoes from stepdad's allotment. I'll need sprouts, carrots, and parsnips I think.

Have ordered my turkey from the butchers so that's sorted!

    Good afternoon Campers,
    And here are today's offerings:
*Finished big house clean started yesterday - minimal products used.
    *Hand delivered some more cards.
*The nice festive cake tin I saw in 99p Shop too small for the cake I've made for my Dad. Shame, nice tin. Not inclined to spend more than 99p, so have re-purposed an old one. A bit of silver & sparkle, a classy hand-made label, it'll do the job fine.
*Sorted presents out into bags & boxes ready to give to people as we see them. Do not want to have to use up additional petrol & time just because we couldn't be organised. Found cat had been sharpening his claws on my stash of boxes, but it adds a sort of rustic touch :-)
*Nobbled mr f over breakfast (2 days running!) & discussed meal plans between now & Christmas Eve. All sorted. Prioritising freezer stuff to a)Save money b) Make space.
*Set washing machine timer for an overnight wash on cheap tariff.
*Packed an ebay parcel ready for posting.
    *Did a few surveys.
*1 unfranked stamp on this morning's cards. May need to be liberated.
    STILL TO DO:
*Finish making mr f's birthday card.
*Intensive knitting session to get this non-growing sock moving as need to wrap them.
    *Write shopping list.
*Check all relevant baking recipes as I've got quite a lot of festive baking still to do & add any outstanding items to list.
*Apart from towel radiator, no downstairs heating on until at least 5pm.
I think that's me for today.
Oh, CarrieLovesFanta - Re the 'bogging' salad drawer in your fridge. You may already do this, but if not, have you tried lining the drawer with a wodge of folded newspaper? I always do that now. As well as making cleaning easier if someone has dumped muddy veg in there, I also find that veg seems to last longer, I think because the newspaper absorbs moisture, condensation, etc. At fridge cleaning time, it just lifts out & goes straight in the compost bucket.
OK, back to cutting out daleks :-/

2026's challenges: 1) To rebuild our Emergency Fund to at least £5k.
    2) To read 50 books (12/50) 3) The Re-Shrinking of Foxgloves 8.1kg/30kg
Remember....if you have to put it on a credit card, extend your overdraft or take out a loan to buy whatever it is, you probably can't afford it, as that's not your money, it's somebody else's!
  • Foxgloves - that's a very good idea - thanks :)

  • Hi All,

Hope everyone getting better. I have just finished a mammoth 2 HOURS cleaning session on disgusting fridges (Yes, we really have 2) , not very MSE but it makes sense in our mad house. Anyway, wishing I had heard of the newspaper idea. Am going to do this now. Mine is particularly grim due to farmers milk bottles of colostrum, thick and creamy and stinky!

Anyway I am now ready (except for newspaper) for Mr T. Feeling Christmassy at last. The washing mushroom X 3 baskets need to be addressed. I will start on cheap rate tonight and try to spread it over a few days. Lucky girl that I am.

XMAS veg, I have done Red cabbage and apple, RE Gino D C recipe, it is in freezer bags in freezer ready to go on the big day. Also got some other bits ready. Tomorrow cheese coming, and anything else that will keep a few weeks.

Have a good weekend. We deserve it. Feel inclined to knit. I have a bit of a stash, never done socks though!
