Friday 12 December 2014 What DFW small things will you do today?

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym .

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.

Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important

  • Hi everyone,

Thought I would start us off. Been up early and hammered every machine in the house cheap rate. Have a mammoth washing backlog as DD home from Uni yesterday to drop off laundry before a weekend road trip. Very excited DD and DS who is going with her.A surfiet of joy in my house!

Am having lunch with a friend so will not be a debt free day. But hopefully no more than £10. And it is FRIDAY!

Never bleached the fridges, so I absolutely must do this as Mr T delivering early Sat and they are grim.
    Happy friday all. x

    Morning all,
Not feeling very energetic this morning as I was up most of the night coughing  Really fed up with these bugs now :(

Still, must do something, so small list for today:

Put dry washing off airer away
    Research the cheapest breakdown insurance
    Clean bathrooms
    Write rest of Christmas cards
Wrap presents I have so far (only 1 more to get :j )
    Start food shopping list
Order meat for Christmas from butcher in town
Chicken and veg soup (made yesterday) for supper, and I will do a pudding for after :)

Hope everyone has a good day :)

Did all OnePoll surveys I could. Now at £14.80. Yesterday was at £11.50! If I keep going every day should have £40 to cash out in the next week or two. Here's hoping the surveys keep coming.

Got recipe for MIL's sausage rolls. So now I can do the Christmas Sainsburys order this evening!

Naughty and bought a dress online. Hasn't even arrived yet but I've already submitted the return for it as I knew I didn't need it. So as soon as it arrives I will stick the label on it and post it back! £17 I shouldn't have spent back in the bank...

    Debt-free and Proud!
    Morning all!

I sorted out my YNAB difference yesterday - thanks Coppertongue for the advice to watch the tutorials! Going to plough through them this weekend. Excited for next month when I do it with my full salary, as I get my payrise this month, I don't know exactly how much I'll have to throw at my debts.

A probably not-DFW thing I did - deleted my Swagbucks account. It just wasn't for me. Surveys were weird, and the site was just sensory overload! Too much stuff to try and make sense of. I'll carry on with Ipsos and Nectar though.

Today I will eat all meals from stores, made a lasagne last night which will do me for a good few meals.

I am also now inspired to clean my fridge - thanks Maria! Mine is pretty empty at the moment, so it shouldn't be too hard to clean.

I also need to stick some money into my savings pot for next Christmas.

Meal planning too - I've said to my OH that we need to figure out what we're going to eat in the days before Christmas so we can do a sensible shop in advance and lessen the chances of us having to brave the supermarket.

Looking for some advice from more knowledgable people re: Christmas food shopping on best times to go etc, and how far in advance I can get stuff like vegetables. This is the first time I'm doing Christmas myself (albeit on Boxing Day) rather than just going to other people's houses! Thanks in advance!

It's my first xmas too so I've been wondering the same thing! Really don't want to be going shopping too near xmas!

  • So far have resisted the incredible email offers, ebay special 60% off everything as I am a valued customer (this scares me) and my secretary getting a delivery of a bargain from ARGOS, still left in stock.
The only thing a better bargain than that, is not to buy anything and as I really do not need an amazing fun kitchen gadet with 70% off. I have resisted. Thought I would share this with us all. Some days are harder than others! I am focused, GS needs a pension and I need a life, not a gadget...
    Happy friday
