Balance Transfer Card Questions

Hi,

I had a few questions about a balance transfer card.

1. One of the best balance transfer deals is the Barclay's Platinum with 34 months. If I already have a Barclay's Platinum, can I reapply for the new rated card?

2. If no to 2, what can I do to take advantage of that deal - cancel and reapply?

3. If I have several cards, can I shift the balance of all cards onto one card providing the card I am shifting to can support the funds I want to transfer to it?

4. Am I allowed to take on the debt of a family members credit card and bring it to my balance transfer card?

1. The offers are generally for new customers only.

2. Most card providers require you to have a 6month gap between closing and being treated as a new customer (barclaycard may be different but that is the standard).

3. Yes providing they are from different card issuers to the card you are transferring the balance to.

4. Most lenders allow this, again providing the card is from a different issuer.

I've got two Barclaycard Platinum balance transfer cards (16 month and 33 month) so these offers are not just for new customers.
