Hi,
I've just sold my first item on Ebay. The buyer paid by paypal. I am just wondering whether now paypal says I have the money, I am safe to post the item to the buyer. Or should I transfer the money out of paypal first? Slightly worried as its £90 and I don't want to lose the money and the item.
Thanks
Hannah

as long as you have accepted the transaction then yes its safe as far as i know. if you feel hapier transferring it then go ahead, but id still post the item as youll get neg feedback for taking too long which wouldnt be a very good start to a new ebay 'career'

Remember to send recorded delivery seeing as item is £90 - otherwise they could do a chargeback with paypal saying you didn't post.
I think that overall now the money is in your paypal a/c - if you send recorded del. then you are 99% safe - however there is always the chance that if they used a stolen credit card etc that paypal could take it back. I know some people wait a day after it's in their paypal a/c before sending but I always send straight away, as long as they are a good ebayer (good feedback) it should be fine.
p.s. it takes over a week to transfer money out so you can't wait that long before posting!!0 -
Not recorded, you are only covered for postal loss of £30. The item must go special delivery with the correct amount of insurance.
BTW congrats on your first sale.

The insurance is not to protect the buyer but to protect the seller. If the seller ships the item without using special delivery and it gets lost in the post the buyer can just do a chargeback and paypal will withdraw funds from the seller to repay the buyer. Therefore the seller wants to make sure that he can either prove delivery or claim the full amount from the post Office is case of loss.

Thanks for your advice everyone. Luckily I did charge the buyer for special delivery - so that is how I will be sending it. Definitely useful advice for the future!0
