wonga

I read on here a few weeks ago that Wonga were wiping peoples debts etc and remember one person saying that is CCJ had been removed and debts wiped.

It was May 2012 that I last had a payday loan but had some 21 loans prior to that(was a young Squaddie then and couldn't stop in).

Any road im starting to square my credit report up and have been perfect with my credit since summer of 2010 and especially the last year or so having utility bills etc.

I did email Wonga a rather cheeky letter explaining aboit the guy who had is CCJ removed and asked if they could wipe them of my CP as at time I couldn't really afford it as I had to many out goings/other credit.

I've read payday loans can get a instant reject when it comes to a Mortgage.

Has any body who has had pay day loans had these 'entries' from their CP removed?

Have I wasted my time emailing them?

I don't expect them to remove them but what have I got to lose?

Funny enough they have not replied!!

  • I highly doubt you'll get them wiped off of your credit report. Your credit report is supposed to show a truthful account of your borrowings, and you did borrow the money.
Credit 'Score' - Don't buy the credit 'score' that Experian, Equifax and Noddle want to sell you. It's an arbitrary number that means nothing when it comes to applying for credit.

ALWAYS HAVE A DIRECT DEBIT SET UP FOR THE MINIMUM PAYMENT ON YOUR CREDIT CARDS, REGARDLESS OF WHETHER YOU PLAN TO LOGIN AND PAY EACH MONTH.

Yeah I know it's doubtful, I know its cheeky.
But they weren't even checking to see if the customers could afford it hence why they wiped millions of debts of etc
  • And thanks to the governments intervention, even people who CAN afford the loans are now being turned down.

Whatever happened to taking responsibility for your own actions?

    Pathetic.

OP has already taken responsibility, they paid off their loans. They've improved their credit report from the end of the loans to the present day. They just want a more reasonable chance at getting a mortgage.

    Hi Jambo5,

Wonga have been contacting all of their affected customers to let them know what was happening, our blog has more details of this here.

However, if your loans never defaulted then they probably won't be included.

Having payday loans on your report does not necessarily mean you will get rejected for a mortgage, and as they are now a few years old they should have less of an impact. James Jones discusses this in more detail here.

    Kind regards

I wasn't talking about the OP, I was talking about in general.

It's no worries guys. To be honest anyway...I regret it one hell of alot and on a Successfull mortgage application I can see me drunk as a skunt because these last 6 years (as I had defaults and a CCJ and are now gone) has been like a prison sentence in terms of being patient.

The post from the Experian rep was interesting as his link suggest Wonga are wiping depts etc.

Cheers all the best for Christmas guys!
