    Good afternoon all....

and strewth...what a brave but well justified decision on home schooling...
Years ago we realised that ds1 was never going to fit the mould with mainstream state schooling ...I would have loved to have felt confident enough to suggest the home route but I think we knew in our hearts that might not have worked in his situation either...so we opted for independant with the help of a very kind and well needed bursury at the time from the school...this has translated over the years to a scholarship and now both ds1 and ds2 attend the same school...its sometimes hard but has been the making of them both.

I am so glad that you have found something that you believe will allow your DD to flourish and I wish you all the sucess for the future...sometimes not all children find one way of education the best way for them but its such a relief when you finally discover the path thats right for you...

    .
So glad you found the right path for your children LEJC. We muddled through with our older 2 in school as we were always able to sort out problems that arose but dd2 is a whole different kettle of fish and she has struggled through for 2 years but the last few months have drained her, it was soul destroying to watch. Ds2 is different again, he is being assessed for autism and the school have finally got behind us so he is getting lots of support, he loves school and thrives on being amongst lots of people. I am not against school but think it is not for every child.

Oh has badgered me to get him one of these for the last few years...soooo expensive. Would love to treat him but not this year lol.
Strewth71- did you happen to watch that programme that was on a couple of months ago child genius on channel 4, children from all different back grounds, there was one little girl on there who was home schooled she was thriving and was so happy and allowed to be a child unlike some of the other children on there who were like machines, it was lovely to see a child who was free.
I missed that thrifty, would be interesting to watch so will have to see if it is on 4od. I always thought home educating was a hippy thing and not for us, I am so glad we started to look into it properly as I really think it will benefit our dd :)

Good luck I am sure it will be fine. I only know of one person who was home educated for a while and she has now got her art degree and is happily self employed.
Thank you, I dont know anyone else who has been home educated or done so with their kids so am a bit of a lone ranger on this one. Oh is behind us every step though so not totally alone x

It is good to hear that it can be a success, thanks Sarah x

Thanks, the tools are what we are struggling to find but I know they are out there. Support groups are all over the place but I never knew as never had any reason to look. Hopefully by New Year we will be more organised. :o

We all feel so much happier even though we are not sure about a lot of things that are to come at least I know she is safe and happy. Sorry to make you cry, you must be a big softie like me :o

Thanks Locarr, I think she will do so much better without the worries of the world on her little shoulders :)

One of the school staff is being amazing, she is bringing a few bits to get us started as she knew dd before she started at the school and knows what a bad time she's had. I've also informed the LEA and will be open and honest with them as I know there are safeguarding issues with children that are taken out of the school system. We had a cookery lesson yesterday and she more or less made our Christmas cake by herself :T We just had fun but I think she learnt as much as she would have in the school cookery lessons.

Lovely to hear marrbett :T When I mention it to anyone they look at me like I'm mad. I may well message you at some point for a couple of pointers. I do feel like I have taken my daughter back and will enjoy her company now that we can spend more time together :)

Your dd is so lucky to have a lovely caring Mum like you looking out for her xx
Cherish those you have in your life because you never know when they won't be there anymore.

No matter how you feel, get up, dress up & never give up.
