You've made a very big decision which I know as a mum who wants the very best for her children you won't have taken lightly. You know your child better than anyone and if you can see a difference already then you know it was the right decision for her.
All I would say is that you leave the lines of communication with the LEA /school open, they may be a valuable resource further along the line.
Good luck and have fun learning together:)0 -
Good afternoon Elite :hello:
I have been MIA for the last few days due to RL sagas. After much reading and debate we have decided to remove dd2 from school and home educate her. Much controversy around he but also very good feedback from parents who have home educated their children getting them good gcse results followed by A levels and degrees.
I don't expect everyone to agree with my decision but I was not willing to see my lovely, intelligent little girl withdraw into a fearful world of her own any more. I have felt that I have needed to justify my decision to all and sundry but we have already seen the smile reappear on her lovely face much more and she seems to be getting back to her normal self now that she knows there will be no more torment at school.
She understands that she will have to work hard at home so she gets her qualifications but I feel that with the added pressures that were on her at school she will learn quicker at home. I have joined a few home education groups and will be meeting up with some of them in the new year to make sure dd has a circle of friends and can come together to do some science, music, sport and crafts. Busy time ahead for us all
Anyway, got my Tosco evening tonight - my first so not sure what to expect
welcome to our world- we home ed our remaining 3 and its been a real joy! Its very main stream now.
Give your Dd time to 'de-school' for a while. Enjoy life with her for a bit.
Let me know if you need any help.xx0 -

Good afternoon all....
Interesting reading over the differing experiences at the T evenings last night....have to say I'm off to one this evening, was looking forward to my goody bag,but it seems they are pretty non existant this year.
Have to say that whoever made the comments over not being given anything until you had posted a tweet or facebook comment...I'd like to see them try that with me...I have a facebook acc,but its hardly used and I have never even ventured anywhere near twitter so its rather unfair to use social media as a bribe for a box of mince pies or whatever...
wow rhos...what wonderful news about your son contacting you...I hope you both feel able to take it further and enjoy 2015 as the family unit you have missed out on in the past.
as always...well done tweets on your continued loss...
and strewth...what a brave but well justified decision on home schooling...
Years ago we realised that ds1 was never going to fit the mould with mainstream state schooling ...I would have loved to have felt confident enough to suggest the home route but I think we knew in our hearts that might not have worked in his situation either...so we opted for independant with the help of a very kind and well needed bursury at the time from the school...this has translated over the years to a scholarship and now both ds1 and ds2 attend the same school...its sometimes hard but has been the making of them both.
I am so glad that you have found something that you believe will allow your DD to flourish and I wish you all the sucess for the future...sometimes not all children find one way of education the best way for them but its such a relief when you finally discover the path thats right for you...
Emma...all I can say is theres nowt as queer as folk sometimes...gosh what a strange post to report...never mind chick thats one post deleted...but a host of good ones that are still credited to you.
Off now to construct a few shopping lists for A S and T for the weekend to make the best use of some conditional spends I have.frugal October...£41.82 of £40 food shopping spend for the 2 of us!
2017 toiletries challenge 179 out 145 in ...£18.64 spend0 -
