Be careful when you are gifted items bought on Amazon

However, again, Amazon was ready to send the item directly to me. The problem is just a system problem due to privacy.
The buyer doesn't need to be involved in the transaction, but Amazon System cannot create a replacement if the buyer doesn't have my address anymore among his shipping addresses.
You may say that even if the item will be sent directly to me, it would be part of the buyer-Amazon contract.
Clearly not.0 -
Have you actually considered what the consequences could be if their systems did allow replacement goods to be sent out to someone who isn't the original purchaser to any old address other than the one it was originally dispatched to!
Clearly not.
it was originally dispatched directly to my home....On the receipt the shipping address is my house0 -

But as you keep telling us that address is not on their systems anymore so as far as they're concerned it's an unconfirmed, alternative address from the account holders.
no you got it wrong. I am telling you that my address is disabled in the original buyer account. They can actually see it, but since it is disabled, for privacy issue, they cannot send me the replacement.
Now that it is clear, can we agree it's stupid?0 -

well whatever, it's not a problem for me, I am going to send it back to Gaggia anyway (they don't care if it's a gift, the warranty is valid for them). I wrote this thread just to share this possible problem.0

If someone went to the expense of buying you an expensive coffee machine, they must have been a good friend. Why can't you contact them now ?0

is it relevant?0

So you don't have an email address for them, do they have facebook ?0

is it relevant?
Well it would be the obvious solution otherwise its a case of paying for a repair yourself or throwing it away (or perhaps contacting gaggia again, explain the situation and see if they can repair/replace without involving amazon? i'm presuming thats not an option though or you wouldnt have posted on here).
I'd take a guess you've fallen out with them rather than just lost contact. Nothing wrong with that, people fall out from time to time. Just makes it seem stranger that you're avoiding it completely rather than just saying "yeah we fell out". Or perhaps it was an ex partner - would explain the gift, them taking the address off and you's completely not being in contact now.
If theres no animosity there then its rather puzzling why you wouldnt contact them.
So yes, I'd say its relevant (the details arent, but whether you can contact them again or not is).You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0
