Any know of an mp3 editor that includes a SINGLE-CLICK method of chopping up a full l

Like 6347231463731284 others I just want to cut one loooooooooooooooooooooooong mp3 into individual tracks

I have downloaded 46732462738462 mp3 editing tools which all seem to require 16 year degree study course for saddos ONLY

I dont want to make a living out of chopping up mp3s - just this one-off chop up would be great

All the aforementioned mp3 editors show a visual sound wave where even a well trained chimpanzee could spot the individual tracks with a glance

I did try to chop one track out by hand which took me 384 years and it still wasn't exactly in the right spot and my life will never be long enough to complete the album

Question

Anyone know of an mp3 editor that includes a SINGLE-CLICK method of chopping up a full length CD into individual tracks?

If not I'll get to work this afternoon:

Pseudo Code:

Upload full size mp3 track to web
Search/Mark sound gaps (big enough for a monkey to see - about 3 seconds)
Include option to adjust gap size its looking for
Include option to adjust the volume of the dead space (some spaces are not TOTALLY silent and merely dimmed)
Include option to fade in/out
Save individual tracks as "OriginalName01.mp3", "OriginalName02.mp3", yadda yadda

Version 2 (I'll add this tomorrow)
After finding tracks - compare track lengths to existing Online CDs until I find a match which will identify the individual CD Title and Track Titles and use this data to save tracks and include ID3 data in headers

Job Done!! $Billion made :D
When will the "Edit" and "Quote" button get fixed on the mobile web interface?

Maybe one of the cutters/splitters mentioned here:

  • Adobe Audition will do it providing you are prepared to write the script beforehand. Failing that, use something like Nero Soundtrax (part of the Nero Burning ROM suite) to include index markers in the MP3 before you start the ripping process.
Understeer is when you hit a wall with the front of your car

  • I've used Audacity to do this.
As a newbie I can't post the full link. Here it is without the www at the front

Yes that's the last one I dloaded and I even followed their instructions which took 353 years to get 1 track which was STILL no exactly right so I'm on the look out for something that actually works

A really simple program to chop up MP3 files is MP3Trim. The files are edited raw, so you don't lose audio quality when transcoding from MP3 format and back again.

I can't remember where I downloaded it from now... I found these links which refer both to MP3Trim and MPTrim... but they seem to be the same program...

Well the CD already knows how the tracks are laid out, so why would you want to rip it as one long file?

Best MP3 cutter I know (ie fast and foolproof) is MP3 Direct Cut
    (http://mpesch3.de1.cc/mp3dc.html)

But it won't automatically detect the track gaps, presumably because it's a silly idea - too prone to errors.

Likewise why try to match track lengths to identify titles when smarter people than you and I have already figured out better ways to do it?

There are plenty of mix type CD's out there (eg, Ministry Of Sound) where the tracks all follow one in to the other which you would need to rip as one continuous file if you don't want to hear any gaps between the fade point, yet you may still want the individual tracks to load up in to whatever playback software/device you have so you can manually jump to the next track just like you can on the CD.

They are still individual tracks on the CD, but marked as 'gapless'.
If you want to rip them to individual mp3 tracks and play them without the gaps the problem is at the mp3 player end, not the ripping end.

They aren't marked as anything, the standard 2 second gap is missing because the disc was recorded in Disc At Once mode rather than Track At Once

Most ripping software will allow you to select only the tracks you want when ripping, but that means putting them back together again in an audio editor which can be quite time consuming to get right as your ears will easily pick it up on playback if you are more than a handful of milliseconds out.

I thought the repeated MP3 file format of header, data structures meant joining them was as simple as concatenating the files - assume I'm wrong, it's years since I did it, and I CBA to try it now.

Thought the OP wanted to split them, not join them?
