Non-Financial Redundancy Tips

After thirty years of employment, I've been made redundant at 51. Fortunately my company are helping me with a payment and I don't really have too many financial worries. What I wondered, as the days stretch ahead, are the best tips for using up free time? At the moment, my days are more than full (I'm only in Day Two of having no work, to be fair, so it feels more like a holiday!) but I've no idea how long I'll be out of work as I've been pretty much a white collar employee all my career.
What have people found to be the best approach to filling the days?

make finding another job a full-time job. I was in that position at 48 and it did take 3 or 4 months to be offered something better than I had before, which was the target I set myself. View it as an opportunity not a crisis. The questions that get the best answers are the questions that give most detail....0

Voluntary work. It gets you new skills and experience, shows you have "something about you" to new employers, and stops you getting to the point when out of work becomes "unemployed".0
