Reduced prices/special offer scam at Sainsburys

Sainsburys is my favourite place to shop and I've seen things on MSE before about this but chosen not to take much notice until I have just witnessed this now with my own eyes and it is making me think:
I've discovered a product I really like lately which is 'Brown Rice Milk' by the brand name 'Rude Health'
I saw it and have been buying it in Sainsburys recently,it was priced as being on a special offer of being usually £2.50 with 50p off reduced to £2.
I was in Sainsburys today and they have changed the display,it is now just on the shelf priced at £1.85 (with no mention of it being on special offer or anything) it would seem that it is going to now be the 'normal' price for this and they will be selling it for this price in the straightforward way.
I feel pretty ripped off.As it was a new 'health shop' type of product that I haven't seen on sale in many places I assumed I was bagging myself a bargain when I was buying it at £2 a carton and it seems I was being conned. It is now making me question Sainsburys selling tactics and I am wondering if they do this for other things.
PS.Not really a newbie just managed to lose all my old log in details

If it's any help, it's available in other stores for £3. I've seen it in Waitrose, Tesco and Wholefoods. It's around £3 in all of them unless it's on offer.
I don't think this is a scam. I think they've either realised no one is going to regularly pay £3 for something when there are alternatives from 55p (soya/non dairy alternatives) and they've probably lowered the price accordingly. They produced a load of marketing recently stating that they were no longer going to be doing so many multi-buy offers and instead were going to opt for an overall lower price so perhaps this is one item they are just reducing long term rather than using offers ad hoc to reduce it by.0 -
I really don't see where the scam is, they haven't been selling it a higher price than anywhere else and saying it's a special offer.
It's supply and demand, simple as that. They've been selling it cheaper than elsewhere so have been selling a larger volume, it's likely that in doing so they've now been able to negotiate a lower wholesale price from the manufacturer.
Sometimes supermarkets just can't win, they're wrong if they increase prices, now they're wrong if they decrease prices. But I'm sure they'll be happy to sell it to you at £2, just so you don't feel scammed.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -
