What are you drunk on, utter stupidity for coming up with such claptrap?

Love it! This board is really attracting the nutters today

Sorry totally off subject, but something that has annoyed me for a while...:rotfl:

Deep, why do you never quote people properly?

Wow - that's a remarkably low bar for labelling people as nutters you have there.

I am not sure that there is a "proper" way, read what wiki has to say about it.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quotation

At the end of the day, it is the content which matters, so much that lands on is ill-considered, ill researched, and replete with logical fallacies.

You own post is a classic example, you assume there is a "proper" way of quoting, there is not, what makes you think that there is?

I'm not going to be drawn into the symantics of whether there is a right or wrong way, however, we can then see who you are replying to, so makes it easier to follow the thread and what's the points of having a quote button, if you are not going to use?

    Apologies OP.

My TV remote control has lots of buttons which I never use, what is the point of having them?

I don't see what reason OP has to lie about it. It's not hard for them to find out where a car's registered keeper.

That didn't answer my question, which was how would you know what action the police took at the time.

No, this got rid of the car, in the "official" "let's teach them a lesson" way. Not necessarily the quickest way. Or are you the one using a crystal ball now?

There was an obstruction (allegedly) and it was cleared, therefore the problem was solved. How was that "lets teach them a lesson"? Were you a witness at the time?

In my experience of tow trucks, walking around the corner, knocking on a door and saying "can you move your car, please?" would almost certainly be quicker.

Assuming the car is registered to someone who is just around the corner and is also in at the time.

So you think it's claptrap that the police should attempt to resolve issues in the quickest, most straightforward way?

No, I think your post was claptrap given that you were not at the scene and have no knowledge of what went on.

It's more the principle of the thing, paying money to get my car back when I've done nothing wrong.

Its also the sort of thing a local paper might be interested in.

"Innocent local suffering as a result of prank - why don't police chase the culprits?"

The headline could be quite embarrassing -why not get in touch, esp if you can give them a suitably pained photo. :)

Either he pays, or the insurance company pays, it is certainly not a charge for Council Tax payers, his sense of entitlement astounds me.

I don't take as much offence to your comments on here as some others do. Sometimes, your advice is, in my opinion of course, sound and helpful. Often I agree with your comments.

But in this thread, here we have someone who has parked their car, had it wrapped in cling film, towed away and being charged £150 through no fault of their own - or at least no fault we know about.

So, taking the post at face value, would it have been that difficult to either

    (a) offer sympathy
    (b) make no comment at all even
    (c) or when you got a reply to your suggestion to claim on his insurance and found the excess exceeded the cost, have either stopped there or said "oops - best not do that then"?

Indeed, I am sure that there is much that we have not been told.
