Help with Storage Heaters

Hi everyone,
I recently moved into a flat which has storage heaters, which I have never used before! I thought I was using them correctly but received a large energy bill and was informed that I wasn't, I have tried looking online for help and looked on the Manufacturers website (Atlantic) but couldn't find much help so came here instead.
I will try to explain the heater as best I can. The heater has two dials which range from a 2 - 8 setting, one with a Moon icon and one with a Sun icon. I assumed that the moon dial would be for storing energy over night and the sun dial would be the output I want for heat when I am home, therefore the moon dial dictates how much energy is stored and the sun dial dictates how much energy is released.
There is also a slider to the left of these dials which has a power on/off, a frost icon, a clock, another moon and another sun option and I have no idea what these dictate!
Overall I find these heaters overwhelmingly confusing.
I am not too bothered about having heating during the morning but work 9 - 5 so would like heating on for when I return home.
So I am looking for help as to what settings to apply to the heaters to save energy?
Do I have to change the slider between the moon and sun setting at all? Or can I just leave it on the moon setting and use the dials to dictate the heat?
Any help would be appreciated!
Thankyou!
