Is Noddle.co.uk really free?

As the title suggests I want to know if checking my credit report on Noddle is really free? Forever? Is there a catch?

I've had a search and there seems to be conflicting answers.

I've read they do take your debit card details, not sure if its just for identification purposes but I cannot afford to be charged.

It seems a bit too good to be true.

Also, will checking my credit report actually do it any harm?

Yes it is free to check your statutory credit file on noddle.

They do offer additional services at a cost, however you will not be charged these unless you choose to purchase them on the website (and they are very obvious not something you would do by mistake).

Noddle only lets you see a new copy of your callcredit file once a month. But that is sufficient for most people.

You viewing your credit file with any of the 3 agencies is just shown as a footprint search. It is not visible to anyone else searching your files, and will not affect your ability to get credit.

  • Thanks, I might sign up to it tonight then.

I've checked my credit report previously with Experian on a 30 day free trial basis, luckily I remembered to call and cancel on time but that was many moons ago.

I don't want any more credit - currently on a DMP - but didn't really want to trample any more on my credit report.

  • I have used it for about six months and have never been charged.

The way they make their money is by trying to tempt customers with other offers when they sign up for the site, like the above user said. They also tell give you a list of credit cards you may be able to be accepted for and they probably rely on that for their money making too, as in you sign up they get paid an affiliate fee.

It's a good free source of credit file information - been using it for a few years.

Just remember to ignore their ridiculous pendulum like score (it swings wildly from one month to the next).

For some people maybe, but mine's only moved once (from 4/5 to 5/5) when I closed 3 cards totalling £25K of credit limit.

Use it from the start when they were just trialling the service.

Use it as a free basic report each month, and ignore everything else they try to get you to bolt on. :)
