I know when changing from oil to gas you have to ensure the installer is Gas Safe registered. Therefore they'll be on the list downloadable from Gas Safe website.
How does a customer know is a Gas Safe registered installer is Firmus registered or Phoenix registered?0 -

saverbuyer... on the ball...
All installers should be Gas Safe Registered... the Pheonix/Firmus thing is more to do with who is administering the grants......
It's a real shame that when all these types of scheme come out that are aimed to save people money, be it insulation, boilers, windows (NIHE fiasco from a few years ago) the "Certified" installers take it upon themselves to inflate their prices to eat up most of said grant.
Another example (from business perspective)
Back a number of years ago a new regulation came in to prevent farmers spreading slurry during certain times of the year (Late Autumn to early Spring) to reduce pollution from run off into streams and waterways..... Grants were brought out to help assist with building big above ground storage tanks.... they were popping up everywhere on Farms..
Role forward to present day and a neighbour of my dads has just put up another identical to one he put up with the Grant assistance from the same supplier....
Guess What... it cost LESS than the other... .Significantly Less.... Even when the grant money would be taken into account it is Significantly Less !! The Regulation haven't changed... Farmers are still building these things for slurry storage with NO grants...... !! Joke really!!0
