TV Very Signal Weak

Im posting on behalf of my girlfriend.

Yesterday she got a message on her television 'Very Weak Signal.' There is no picture coming through at the moment at all. While I haven't seen the aerial yet the wind wasn't that strong as to turn the aerial. She lives In an area surrounded by tall buildings, and her aerial is pointed at a local relay station which, as the crow flies is only a few miles from her. I'll not be seeing her until after work and it will be pretty dark by then

One thought that occurred to me, about two weeks back she had her TV shifted from a stand and mounted on the wall, an a new TV mounted on her kitchen wall both televisions are fed by the one cable and a simple two way splitter was used, but the picture has been fine up until now

Any idea what might be wrong? I'm been selfish here, I'm thinking of the brownie points I'll get, and who knows I might even get an extra hug!!! wink-and-flirt-smiley-emoticon.gif

Well the setup isn't ideal but as it was working I'd first check that the connectors haven't pulled out. If it's just using TV standard push in type (Belling) then I'd say that's a lot more likely than anything going wrong with the aerial.

Before investigating anything to do with the aerial itself think "Rod Hull".

First things I'd do is check that the aerial connections into the back of the set(s) were pushed in fully during the relocation ... are both sets affected?

Then perhaps check with neighbours who are using terrestrial TV to see if they have been affected too. It could simply be a problem with the Relay Station having been affected by the storms.

I just checked the date on that - 15 years ago. No wonder it was an obscure enough reference to get a query. Seems like only the other day....

I was given a TV aerial for a wedding present once.

Couldn't see the point at the time but I have to say the reception afterwards was fantastic.
