RM not emptied postbox for two days and not bothered

Today, I visited my GP and parked up in the carpark. Next door there is a small group of shops and a mini supermarket. There is a post box there as well.
As I needed to post something, I was planning to pop the mail into the post box. It was overfull with letters sticking out.
A guy said it was not emptied since Sat lunchtime. He did ring RM up and they were not bothered.
I did post my letter in another postbox on the estate and it was empty.
So why aren't RM emptying a very busy postbox for two days?

Pretty sure some randoms on the internet aren't going to be able to answer that question! Why not ask RM if you're that bothered?0

Obviously, nobody here will know for sure what the deal is, who's off sick, or whatever.
Something that may play a factor is in the technical sense 'buffering' - maybe the local sorting office is for whatever reason (sickness, breakdown, insufficient capacity from underinvestment ) be overwhelmed, and is unable to take more mail in until it has got rid of some. Rather than leaving sacks in piles hindering the repair work, they've elected some boxes to buffer the mail load. I have no idea, but it's unlikely to be something they ideally want to happen in fairness, I'm sure they'll want it clear as soon as practical too?0 -
Our local box is often full to the top at this time of year, it only gets emptied once a day now, used to be three times a day but Royal Mail reduced all the local collections here last year.
Maybe the 'Guy' missed it being emptied, unless hes been keeping 24/7 surveillance on the box.
But as said, nobody here will know, not sure.
Did you called Royal Mail or your local sorting office direct? Would think the sorting office might at least be able to give you an excuse or divert a van to empty it.0 -

Collections are heavily monitored.
Any failed/missed/early collection will flag up under the CMD database.
This is a national database and flags up right through to director level.
So a few options.
A rougue collection diver not clearing the box and falsifying the collection scans(that would be a sackable offence)
A jammed postbox awaiting a ROMEC repair. Though with mail at risk. This would be on a 4 hour timescale.
The box is simply receiving high volumes and filling between collections and 'the guy' didnt see this.
At this time of year additional collections are laid on and very few boxes would be receiving just one clearance a day.
OP. Contact RM and flag it up.0
