Which is best to apply for?

Hi
Which credit card is best to apply for if I have a poor credit rating/score?
I want a card which I can use to improve my credit file by using for small purchases and paying in full on a monthly basis.
What I don't want is to damage my credit rating/score by having lots of failed applications.
My credit history is not very good but I have paid off the majority of bills at the beginning of the year and only have approx £2000 outstanding to a debt management company. (regular payments being made).
Thanks for any help.
Sorry if this has been brought up before I have looked back but can't find a similar thread!

You could use the soft search on here to see if any come up with a reasonable prospect but it isnt a very reliable tool.
Capital One, Vanquish etc all have products aimed at the sub prime market but can have very high APRs, not a problem if you pay it off in full each month but is if you are wanting to ride a balance0 -

If you are on a DMP, it is generally inadvisable to take out more credit, even if you intend to repay it in full each month.
Is your DMP with a free company, or are you paying fees? Change that and save money before you apply for a card. Some days, it's just not worth chewing through the leather straps....

I've no idea of the implications of new credit whilst on a DMP as bargainbetty has mentioned so with that caveat:
As has been said you are probably looking at a sub-prime card but you could also try Barclaycard's soft check - they are generally one of the easiest mainstream cards to get and no harm done if the soft check says it would be a decline.0
