Last Saturday evening I texted my answer to the show for the 1,000 pound viewers question. At 20.56pm I received a text message from Walkabout (I dont know who they are) saying that I answered correctly and they would check if I replied in the time limit( I did) and they would contact me on Tuesday. I have heard nothing at all from them . Has anyone else had this experience? I have no way of contacting them to find out what has happened, are all the winners put into a hat or what is the procedure for those who answered correctly? Any ideas anyone of what I should do now?

I know nothing about the millionaire competition but generally find that the questions on TV requiring you to phone in on a premium line or text in at premium rate are designed so that your cat could answer them (you should be embrassed if you can not answer most of them). They are designed to get the maximum number of people phoning/texting in thereby making the prize self-funding.
I am guessing (and it is only a guess) that you were just one of many thosands of people who answerd it correctly in the required timeslot and therefore probably went through a further random selection.

I only watch Millionaire occasionally nowadays , but I think the £1000 viewers question is where the contestant in the hot seat can't answer the question , decides to take the money and then the viewers are invited to answer it , so it could be a question from any level of the game
It could be the question to win £500,000 , so in theory should be one of the more difficult to answer , but of course the answers are always easy if you know them  Same old same old since 20080 -
Thanks ivan and sheel, You are correct sheel but regardless of the value to the contestent the prize is always for 1,000 pound for texted answers, and Ivan the one I entered was turned down by the contestant for the 125,000 pound question, so not something my cat could have answered, I resent the implication that entrants are dimwits, the cost for the text is 1.00 as far as I am concerned the odds are good is you get to win. My question still is, how can a reputable show like this run what appears to be a veritable scam . I think I need to talk to Martin. You live..You learn.:)0

Hi everyone,
I'm a former lurker, but I'm alright now! I too did the text the answer thing on Millionaire. Like Renegade I got the text back, but I did receive a follow up to that. I was then asked how many letters there were in the very long name of the Welsh railway station and was told to reply in something like 30 seconds  I hit Google, found it, counted them, texted back the answer and they texted back saying I was out of time.
I've never done it since!

Only £125K ... ah I suppose you are correct then, the cat could not have answered it ... I would have needed the dog.renegade wrote:Thanks ivan and sheel, You are correct sheel but regardless of the value to the contestent the prize is always for 1,000 pound for texted answers, and Ivan the one I entered was turned down by the contestant for the 125,000 pound question, so not something my cat could have answered, I resent the implication that entrants are dimwits, the cost for the text is 1.00 as far as I am concerned the odds are good is you get to win. From what you are saying it sounds that it is definitely a more serious competition than the usual one you get on GMTV or in the adverts between shows (you know the sort ... 'What is a 'hole in one' ... A) something in your tights,
a sexual position, C) something in golf). I would however guess that they are still relying on thousands of people paying their £1 (or whatever) to enter. How long do they give you to answer? If it is more than a couple of minutes then they are obviously allowing people time to fire up their computers, log onto the web, do a search and find the answer.
I suppose in a way it is a scam because like all scams it relies on peoples greed and convincing people that they have to do nothing to get significant amounts of money ... but no more of a scam than the contestants taking part in the show, or any other competition ... including the lottery, football pools, horse racing etc.. They are going to get thousands upon thousands of calls within the alotted time and they are only going to pay out once. Even I used to enter the Readers Digest competitions before I realised that I had a better chance of being elected as pope.

I don't quite see how you can say it is a scam in that they offer you the chance to take a chance. You say you answered within the time allowed but did they receive it within the time allowed? Obviously not or they would have got back to you, or perhaps someone was quicker in with the correct answer.
After all when picking their contestants it costs the contestants money in the first place to phone in so you could say the whole programme is a scam? They do have to find the money to pay out the prizes from somewhere

Are you seriously suggesting renegade that all persons answering correctly within the time limit will win a £1,000 prize for a £1 entry fee?
Even if you cannot find the answer on the Internet then, following your logic, all you would have to do is text four different answers on four mobile phones (total £1) for a guaranteed £1,000 win!
There will be tens of thousands of people texting the correct answer within the time limit - that would mean tens of millions payout each time!0 -
I have done this text game a few times but have now stopped because the tiebreak questions are impossible to answer. One asked the population of the Falkland Islands according to the 2002 census!!! Using the internet is the only way but you only get 60 secs to answer. The only way I could think of was to do it with more than one phone but then they are getting even more money.0
