May I ask why you want one?
I find the feature quite useful and would like to have it on the UK card I currently use the most.0 -
Raise a compliant with Barclays and advise them you are aware visa electronic contactless debit cards are available.
This is what my brother had to do as branch staff was not even aware they are available.Im an ex employee RBS GroupHowever Any Opinion Given On MSE Is Strictly My Own0 -

They knew it was available and the computer turned me down, so I'm not sure if that will help?
I will just leave it for now and try again the next time I happen to be in a branch.0 -

Their are two types of Barclays contactless debit cards.
They would have automatically just made an application for an offline debit card which you got declined for.Im an ex employee RBS GroupHowever Any Opinion Given On MSE Is Strictly My Own0 -
I was the same kept getting turned down for a contactless card account via Barclays. The last time I was visited the branch the lady was quite rude and not bothered, the account is always in credit not defaulted for over 5 years. So thought I would try with Lloyds and applied for the Classic Account and they said yes account opened and sent a contactless visa debit card.... its bye bye Barclays0

Hi I work at Barclays, I think MrSilk is generally correct with this one. Contactless cards are a scored product here. Because of the way the contactless system works its scored. Because your a relatively new account holder your score did not meet the requirement. Your credit score is generally the internal one, and not entirely your external one. Sometimes where you live affects these applications for new account holders I have found.0

Is that correct as Barclays offer a full authorisation contactless debit card which is available to everyone with a debit card on request.Im an ex employee RBS GroupHowever Any Opinion Given On MSE Is Strictly My Own0 -
We have three types of debit card.
1. Connect electronic which is non contactless
2. Connect debit which is contactless
3. Connect debit old non contactless card
To get from connect electronic to contactless you would have to score for it. We can see whether you would qualify or not for existing customer and new account opener.
To go from old non contact less debit to contact less connect you are already scored and will qualify for contactless card upon renewal or if you report old connect debit card lost or stolen.
If you have a connect electronic card you will not be issued a contactless card upon renewal or if you report this lost or stolen. You will get same card.
Hope this clarifies it0 -

Altough I have extremely limited credit history on my 7th month of living in the UK, there's nothing negative on my report. I have my phone plan, Capital One CC, British Gas and my Barclays current account all showing green on my report (and has always been)... As a non-eu citizen I'm not on the electoral roll.
This is interesting. We seem to have innumerable threads from people in a similar position as yourself who claim to be unable to open a UK bank account. Would you recommend asking Barclays? Are you for real? - Glass Half Empty??
