Clueless on storage heaters!
I'm hoping someone has good knowledge on storage heaters!!
Me and my fianc! moved into a 2bedroom semi detached property in August. As the winter months have come we've realised just how cold it is. We have 2 storage heaters, 1 on the landing upstairs which seems to keep upstairs warm enough until bed time. And another downstairs in the living room. Now as we come down the stairs in the morning you can literally feel the air getting colder and colder until it's freezing downstairs. We have wood/Lino flooring which will contribute and have a bay window which is single glazed, but it is SO COLD downstairs. To the point where I get home from work and put more clothes on then sit in bed all night.
I've tried turning output right down at night (with input full whack) u
until we wake up in the morning, putting output on full blast and all sorts. It doesn't seem as hot as the upstairs heater so I'm wondering if something is wrong. It's in an awkward place, they've put it in the only part on the living room you can fit a sofa in, so we've pulled the sofa right forward so air circulates too.
I'm just at a loss. Could it be the bricks are worn out? I'm a FTB so have little knowledge of anything house wise and just want to be comfortable in my home! I have no idea how much it would cost to get things like storage heaters serviced, but I'm so cold at home

Storage heaters can have 4 elements going across the heater. Its possible one of them may have failed. (but don't get your hopes up)
1) consider whether you want to get gas heating
2) Try Closing the flaps last thing and night and open when you get home from work.
3) either put up with a cold hall downstairs, or consider fitting a heater.0
