Willing to take a risk? Wait until 16.00 + on Xmas eve (or ask in local supermarket when start discounting on Xmas eve to get rid of stuff).

But it is a risk! Possibly less of one if you have several big supermarkets in the vicinity.

I've done this for the past 5 years, though I find turning up around 2 -3pm best. Each year I have a back up chicken in the freezer but I've never had to thaw it out yet - (Touches wood!!). Usually get a top quality organic bird for between £10 -£20. (Could pay a lot less if I didn't prefer organic.)

Aldi are selling their Turkey crowns (and possibly other birds - didn't look) at half price this morning. That's us sorted for £6!

(Just as well, our Lidl had none! Our M&S only had huge joints £35+ although the assistant did say the delivery was due anytime)

HUKD has an offer on Tesco turkeys down to £3 a kilo, think this may be a national deal

I have been to the shops this morning and not a lot of stock on the shelves at M&S or Morrisons and nothing other than 1 duck crown left at Lidl - am not holding out much hope of a cheap turkey this year. I have got an m&S free range turkey breast joint that I bought YS a couple of weeks ago so am not that worried
