Double insulated bathroom lights - are they all expensive?

Our house lighting circuit isn;t earthed so electrician has recommended we choose a bathroom light from double-insulated-lighting.co.uk.

However, a plain basic light costs 75 quid!!

This compares to 5-20 quid for a very similar (non double-insulated) light from B&Q.

Any cheaper options or do i just have to bite the bullet...?

If you just want cheap, there's the traditional batten holder, plus a glass lampshade.

But I assume you're looking for something stylish.
    If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.
  • There are loads of double insulated lights around, look for the square within a square symbol on lights. Just to confuse you a bit tho, you need to be aware of the IP rating of fittings in certain areas of the bathroom. Eg directly over a bath or close to it and if your ceiling is quite low. See http://www.shop4.co.uk/zone-info.jpg I'd go to your locAl electrical wholesaler and ask them what's available

You shouldn't have to pay that, search online, I got a couple of 240v mains large recessed downlighters that were both D/I and fireproof, they were only about £24 each. They were a reputable brand too.
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed

    Thanks everyone.

We've decided to get the lighting rewired, rather than shell out for a load of plastic pendants and double-insulated lights.

It is the more expensive option, but is future-proofed...
