Silverline slow cooker

Does anyone have a Silverline slow cooker, ie Lidl's brand ?
I used it last week, to cook a stew on auto, but didn't start early enough to allow 6 hours until mealtime, so gave up after 4 and boiled the stew next day.( I remember looking through the lid and noticing gentle simmer bubbles.)
Today I started early, but after 7 hours the veg is still crispy (I like it soft). I have not seen any bubbling, this time, so am wondering if the pot is faulty.(I even tried turning to full for 30 minutes, but still no bubbles, yet the box says boil is an option)
Any opinions, please ? I do have the receipt so could return it.
