statute barred debt and new cedit

hi i have a statute barred debt its been barred for many years with no letters or phone calls since i have a new home and numbers so i find it strange now 10years later my credit is good but as soon as i apply for any credit and fill in my phone number and address within a few hrs at times i have phone calls regarding the statute barred debt:mad:

its like they are given away my info and some of the debt companys have even lied and tried to say its not barred and that i made payment on such a such date they even once used the date and time my son was born

is this allowed because i refuse to pay the debt as i didnt owe it to start with and now its barred ill never pay it but the stress of these people makes me not want to apply for credit again as i know the zombies will be calling soon after i apply

The credit reference agencies offer a paid for trace service to their customers (lenders/debt collectors etc). Whereby they can register to be informed if your address is changed or confirmed on your credit file.

That doesn't directly explain how they are getting your number though.

If you are contacted again about a SB debt you could obtain their address and write to them to say you have already informed them that the debt is statute barred and that you do not intend to make any payment. You could then use some of the wording from post 4 in this https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/2606811 link to inform them that you will be making a complaint to the FO and FCA.

Or you could simply put the phone down on any calls from debt collectors.

Where do you think credit reference agencies get there profits from ?
Of course they sell your info to debt collectors, its one of those "chosen third party" tick boxes.
Just happens the chosen party is a bunch of debt collectors.
I do Contracts, all day every day.
  • Just to let you know, Equifax will sell all your data to anyone willing to pay for it. As you have done, I used my home number BUT only Equifax had it, the account wasn't in my name and soon enough DCA's were contacting me on it! One DCA finally admitted that Equifax had given it them as they could not of obtained it anywhere else, the account not even being in my name!
