I would like you to know how your ex-wife sold her part of the house without NRAM releasing her from her joint mortgage commitment. Personally, I think you are in for a bit of a shock!

As we've seen in other cases over the years, a lender may be quite relaxed in allowing someone to leave the ownership if they are so inclined.

Allowing them to leave the mortgage liability is another matter.

It's well and truly open and they are wriggling round the floor...

  • What does it mean? Why have the worms arrived?
  • She declared bankruptcy and sold her half to a third party following divorce...
    nram refused to do it.

I think you're merging these two issues as one.

Whether they were happy for her to 'sell her share to a third party' is irrelevant (though it sounds very odd, to be frank). It appears from your second quote that she IS still on the NRAM mortgage, and therefore they will continue to write to her, since she's still jointly and severally liable for the debt, in the same way that you are.

You might want to call NRAM as it sounds as if you may get something of a shock.

You seem to be under the misapprehension that she left the liability for the mortgage when she was removed from the ownership of the property.

This does not appear to be the case, which can only be confirmed by the lender.

That being the case, the lender will continue to mail copies of all correspondence to all parties name on the mortgage at the last known address.
