Turning radiators on and off?

Is it okay to do this? I live by myself and it always seems pointless heating up a room that I won't be for hours. Is it okay to say, have all four of my radiators on for twenty minutes at the start of the day, then three of them off when I run the heat again for twenty in the afternoon (the bathroom and two living room ones as I'm in my bedroom most of the daytime) then turn those three back on and turn the bedroom one off in the evening when I'm downstairs and run the heat again? My boiler is a fairly old looking non-condensing combi ~80% efficient (band 'D'). Thanks :)

Only negative on turning rads on and off is the fact that the valves may weep. Easy enough to overcome with a small spanner .

True, but that's better than the person paying the bills weeping!

    I've been Money Tipped!
I've bought programmable TRV's so that I can have the heating on downstairs all day but in the bedrooms just morning and evening. Stops the faffing around turning the rads on and off. Currently we have the thermostat in the living room, but when we change over to a wireless stat we will also fit them in the living room.

If you decide to get some, shop around the price can vary quite a bit

Honeywell and Salus also make programmable TRV's
It is a good idea to be alone in a garden at dawn or dark so that all its shy presences may haunt you and possess you in a reverie of suspended thought.
