Missed single barclaycard payment first time ever and got hectoring letter!

I always thought that I was just the sort of customer Barclaycard did not really want as I always pay my card on time each month. Some of you may not know that Barclaycard monthly billing date is variable within a ten day window each month and you never know until the bill arrives which date is this month's billing date.
As a result, while I was sick with flu last month I forgot to pay on time, for the first time in living memory. I paid at once, two days late and of course incurred a late payment charge and interest on the amount (which was not large in any case.) OK my fault, I take the hit. I thought this would have been a desirable situation for Barclaycard.
When this month's bill arrived it contained a leaflet on how to avoid default charges. And today I got a hectoring letter about forgetting to pay on time last month and warning me of the dire consequences if I forgot two payments
So do Barclaycard want you to pay it off in full each month or not?l

Some customers, yes, but not all.0 -
why not set up a DD, problem solved you will never forget.0

I once misread the amount to pay and underpaid by £20. Was charged interest on the whole of the outstanding balance. I thought this is ridiculous so I rang up and complained. Charge was instantly removed. Suggest you try the same.0

The most profitable customers are those that sit right on the limit, always make minimum payment, but never default

50% of CC are paid in full each month so it's an urban myth to say CC don't like people that do that.
people who eventually default, start with a single missed payment0 -

thats interesting to know, I have always wondered if someone who spends their limit, and the CC gets transaction fees, then pays off in full, same in month 2, 3 etc makes a CC more or not.0 -

They want you to at least pay the minimum payment. You can't just pay nothing. Since they charge a fee for this on the top of the interest, it's in your best interests to heed their advice. As stated above, if you pay off in full every month anyway, why not set up a direct debit?0 -

How many people do you honestly know that are in the position to do this, month in, month out?
Yes, this would probably be the most profitable, however it needs to be taken into account that the info I've given above is what will generally be the case in the real world
