Agreed. But have you got a Lloyds RS? I know you need a CA to open the RS but not sure about if it's already up and running. Maybe just keep it dormant until the RS matures and then can easily transfer out?

Good point, I do have a regular savings account, so guess will keep it open. But again, just wanted to check my understanding - does nationwide account now beat ltsb in all other respects?

    I think so:
Upper limit in Flexaccount: £3000 Same rate.
e-savings rate 5.55% rather than 4.65%. Instant transfer.
    Online secure messaging facility.

If that's your only main gripe, then open a Nationwide current account *as well* and use that for spending abroad and keep your LTSB as a main account.

That's what I've done (well I put 'spending' money in the NW account as well, but DD's and SO's come out of LTSB)

Thanks for the advice. I've had a Nationwide FlexAccount alongside Lloyds for a few years now. I always use that for international usage. I remember reading some time ago that it also pays you a high interest rate if you pay in over £1,000 every month. I presume from the above posts that this is true. Could well be worthwhile switching to this account and dumping Lloyds.

There are other high-interesting paying current accounts such as Alliance & Leicester.

the problem with the likes of A&L is that they only pay decent interest for 1 year, which means u have to move again after year 1. furthermore, they charge you £5 for each paper statement request - not good if you need paper statements typically for id purposes.

Nationwide is a good all rounder, and they do a transfer service (even for exisiting members) which transfer your direct debits and wages/pension etc.

That would leave you remembering the account number/sort code!!
