I've done over 1000 miles and several service areas in the last week, and I can tell you that ALL MSA's have non-compliant signing. Having stopped at Charnock Richard in both direction (it's halfway) I can confirm their signage is not compliant, and a complaint to them may get it killed off, especially if you stopped between 11pm and 6am in a car.
Apart from anything else, for strict compliance, the Car Park must have big blue P signs, and must have 4 per 100 + 4 disabled Bays. Not a single service area I have visited complies with those two DfT requirements.
And I'm happy to act as a professional driver witness in that respect. though there are others here who can be better witnesses, such as Mr Prankster.0 -

Thank you - this information will be useful to me too. Same service area just a day after this event.0 -

Success!
Yesterday we received a letter from PE saying that the charge was cancelled and there was no outstanding balance due.
Very short, generic letter. But very sweet.
May I pass my thanks on to everyone on this forum, and especially those on this thread. With your help - we won :beer:0
