With due respect, most sellers who send 'huge' quantities of Mail via RM do so via PPI and as such stick the labels on and the Mail goes nowhere near a Post Office.

PPI SF and SD are bought by 'huge' users on account and don't need any input from a PO at all.

SF is not tracked it's a signature on receipt. SD is tracked. RMT is the business tracked service.

I don't use PPI. And I do use my local Post Office. And, with due respect, I apologise if my idea of a 'huge amount of post' doesn't match your definition - to me over 4500 items a year is huge. But I work alone. So all of my post goes via a Post Office. But how I deal with my mail is irrelevant to this discussion.

I am aware that Signed For is not tracked but just a signature (occasionally) upon delivery. I was actually referring just to Special Delivery in that particular sentence. My sincere apologies to the pedantic readers for not clarifying that particular point.

Why would anyone post special delivery through a postbox, that kind of defeats the purpose. Signed for obviously is ok as long as the delivering postman notices the label.

I still don't understand that - especially when it was a legal letter from the solicitor. Was supposed to be special delivery before 1pm and I had to collect it the following day, so got it late anyway!

Ah so it was from a business- sounds like someone slipped up when doing the post. It happens.
