Yet another post Q, is special delivery delayed as well?

If I wanted to post an item next day special delivery on Monday would it still be delivered Tuesday despite the disruptions?

If there is a postal strike, then no. To the extent that if your local post office is open, they wont 'guarantee' next day delivery, though they will take the item off you.

I'm a bit baffled by SD right now too... I posted an item SD yesterday - when I track it today, it says

We have received your item and expect to deliver it before the guaranteed time on 30/07/07.
To check on your item’s progress, please try again later.

Guaranteed time on 30/07/07? I paid for next day delivery - someone needs to get some maths lessons!

FloFlo, I have been recommended the use of carrier pigeons as an alternative, if you search the other threads someone is already training some

I've sent sd today and she has written 'none' as the guaranteed date!

Slip has guaranteed date as 25/07/07... methinks she wasn't paying attention on the 26th when she wrote it out.

The original message I got from RM (which I have now lost) did say that SD was no longer guaranteed next day delivery during the strikes, but I can't remember the suggested time frame. It's all to do with the fact that different areas are having strikes, so what might be guaranteed in the Midlands might never see the light of day again here in London, or vice versa.

:T I already have some but I only use them for 1st or 2nd class they're not reliable enough for next day - don't tell them I said that they'll go on strike.

How much do you charge for your carrier pigeons?

RM Screws (sorry i mean managers) will only take special delivery items out for delivery, this is so they do not need to pay compensation for late mail.

Only Special Delivery is delivered on Strike Day's they can't cope with normal mail as well
