Can I overpay my Halifax Clarity?

Not sure if that would work: to avoid getting charged daily interest on ATM cash withdrawals in the US could I overpay it (so it is in credit) before I go? Has anybody ever tried this?:p

Answered in your T&Cs (and in 100s of posts on here)...doing so would breach your T&Cs.

If you're on their representative APR, the interest cost is 3p per day per £100 cash balance...so a couple of quid or so for a 2-week holiday and £5-700 of cash withdrawn.

The T&C of the card say thou shalt not do this.

Anecdotal evidence suggests that some of the time they turn a blind eye.

  • Consider setting up a FP for a few days into your holiday - ie when you expect to have made at least your first withdrawal.

Not really worth taking the chance and having your card stopped IMO.

Either make faster payments from safe internet access whilst there.
If no safe internet access (don't use a shared computer) or high charges then pay it when you get back probably for less than the price of a coffee.

I mostly pay mine off but if I'm on a cruise with expensive satellite internet then I just wait til I getback. Never paid more than £3 at most.
