You are comparing a non advised platform with a financial advisor, very different things unless you paid HL for advice

Advised. Agree it's not cheap but I'd be the first to admit I don't have the expertise - and certainly didn't 10 years ago - to make such crucial financial decisions.
  • Can anyone please tell that what would be the most suitable way to invest money and get profit in short time? actually i don't want to invest my savings for a long period of time....

For anything less than a decade, you shouldn't be investing in equities.

Here is an interesting article and graphs that Monevator gave a pointer to yesterday.

Notice that you can lose a lot in the short term and that only long term holding turns you (probably!) into a winner.
I am not a financial adviser and neither do I play one on television. I might occasionally give bad advice but at least it's free.

Like all religions, the Faith of the Invisible Pink Unicorns is based upon both logic and faith. We have faith that they are pink; we logically know that they are invisible because we can't see them.
  • Hargreaves seems to get bad press about their fees, but their service is superb and their website is really comprehensive.

I have just decided to put my SIPP with HL, understanding that they are a bit more expensive. However, if you are fairly new at investing they are really helpful.

I wouldn't use their managed fund service though - I agree that is too expensive at the moment. However, there is so much information out there even a financial numpty like myself can formulate what I want to invest my portfolio in.

Well, they attempted to triple the fees for my wife, so I'm sure you can imagine how delighted we were about that!

    Agreed.

  • Just wondering how high the fees actually are? Do they send a bill every year or take a fee from your investments?
