Experian - i have opened 1 new credit account?

my credit score has gone from 998 to 967 and says ive opened 1 new credit account recently, only thing i can think of is ive increased my mortgage with current lender, and 'added on' the extra money, would this be it? I've tried looking to see what the new account is, but cant see where it shows on creditexpert site? am a bit paranoid as had my details cloned a few years ago and it was a pain in the butt to sort out

Does it not show on your file? If you know your Experian "score" can you not also look and see the start date of your new mortgage? (And as a new line of credit that is probably it)

Remember that the score is only Experian's assessment of your status and 967 is still very high. Lenders do not buy those scores, they calculate their own.

    Hi Britishboy,

It may be that you mortgage provider has recorded a new account for the extended mortgage.

This would appear as a separate account on your report and generate the alert.

I can take a look at your report for you and see if this is what's happened, if you email your details to uksocialsupport@experian.com

    Kind regards
    Neil
