Non techi, interested in a tablet - down to a choice between the HUDL2 or the SAMSUNG 3 10 inch. I see the amazon FIRE HDX is down to £99 on argos but is it as good as either of the others?
I would like to be able to use the tablet when out and about
Grateful for advice (simply put

Out and about requires 3 g connection same as your phone .
Or use public WiFi when available .

Sorry no record of Samsung 30 -
Im leaning towards the HUDL2. The amazon one seems to be a bit restrictive re amazon apps etc. The samsung gets no better reviews than the HUDL2.0

I don't want to hijack this thread but I have a similar question so I hope you don' t mind, hethmar.
I have a computer and an oldish laptop at home, computer is fine but the laptop is getting slower by the day! Hubby wants to buy me a tablet for xmas. The chaps at work,(yes they use their phones at work) to get on to the internet, but they all have contracts.I have the simplest pay as you go mobile which I really only need for my weekend work.
Yes it would be useful to have a tablet to take out and about and use at home in place of the laptop. But I don't want to end up with paying any contract. Therefore I assume I will only be able to use the wi fi I currently have at home but not anywhere else?I don't believe I could at work as they use the 3g connection.
I am very naïve about how these things work so please could someone explain in simple terms the best way,if there is one?0 -
I am a complete techy numpty, don't even have a smart phone. Didn't know a widget from an App but bought a Hudl2 a few days ago. I'm amazed at how easy it is to find your way round although I have invested in a How to book as the little book it comes with is a bit pathetic. There is a very informative instruction website though. Beware,'tis an addictive purchase although have only used my free introductory vouchers for books and films as yet!0

3g tablets and network .
You either buy a monthly sim only contract or use a PAYG sim .
A 3g enabled tablet is required .
Wifi you can use any free wifi any place in the world .0 -
I bought a tablet without a sim or 3g connection. These days you can connect to wifi in
a. houses of friends with broadband
b. Coffee shops
c. hotels
d. railway stations and some trains
e. restaurants
f. shops like Tesco and John Lewis
nearly all without cost. I wondered if I would regret not having the 3g connection but not so far and even if I did I can tether my phone to it.0
