I love Aldi's. In university, my German lecturer (who was German) would buy us Aldi stollen at Christmas. The best one I've ever tried though was a Tesco Finest one, probably nearly 10 years ago now. That was great as Christmas eve breakfast, very boozy and sugary!0

The very best Stollen has to be the one home-baked by my Mum!
My roots are German and we generally get through a LOT of Stollen!!! She bakes a couple of larger ones and some absolutely divine indivisual ones made with Quark. Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm they are good!
Other than home made, this year we had a relative visit and bring us a rather good (and very large!) Dresdener Stollen.
And for an 'everyday' Stollen......even Mum buys the Lidls Stollen (Favorina)....but only the 'standard' type....they also do 'speciality' varities (like poppyseeded) which are IMHO not 'real' Stollen!0 -
Bought one from Lidls last year and it was very good. This year tried 2 different varieties and they were both dry and crumbly. Got one from Aldi last week, the basic marzipan one from the bottom shelf, not one of the fancy ones, and it was lovely!0
