My partner signed up to a Burton's store card about 5-6 years ago.He has rarely used it over the years.His card expired in May 2014 and we didn't bother to renew it.
We have just received a bill for £547 someone has somehow managed to get hold of his card and purchased these items.We still have the card that expired. How could someone purchase items if we had the card???!!!
I have rung the card store company (New Day) and they asked us a number of security questions one of which was the password on the account....guess what we cannot remember it!! So..... because we could not get past the security questions they are refusing to talk to us!!
PLEASE HELP!!

There is always an option for forgetting the password. Did you call the number for lost or stolen cards I would expect a better response from that than the standard customer service number.?loose does not rhyme with choose but lose does and is the word you meant to write.0

But phoning the card's "lost and stolen" phone number would be correct because the card was lost for a short time. Absolutely.and this needs to be stopped.
Until it's clear that it was a new card and it was stolen there is no point in getting the police involved. Surely it's worth reporting the transactions to the card provider and establishing the facts first.If the OP failed to report once they are aware of this situation they could become liable for the value of later transactions couldn't they?0
