Can anyone recommend a free HTML editor, a WYSIWYG, basic website design package?

Thanks for the tip. I'm currently using Dreamweaver MX but I'm going to give N-Vu a look and see if it is any good. On a quick glance it certainly seems to be just as powerful as Dreamweaver.

Serif give away old versions of their core packages:
http://www.freeserifsoftware.com/
This includes their WebPlus 6.0 web design package. I've never used it but their stuff is usually fairly feature rich.

Not used it for a while but 1st Page 2000 used to be very good.
