Need ipod dock as gift - help please

My son has said he's desperate for an ipod docking station to charge up his ipod, as his current one no longer works. I'm clueless about such things, but having done some research, like the look of this one, and it is just within budget (£40 max).

The only thing is that it seems not to be compatible with the Touch 1st generation, and my son thinks, but isn't sure, that that's what he's got.

Would it do? Is it worth risking? Or can anyone advise me on a suitable one please?

Is it just for charging? Or does he use it for listening to music too?

Mainly for charging - but he does want to be able to listen to music sometimes as well. He's in his 30s, so I want something reasonably decent for him.

Seems you can spend the earth on them, but I'd already bought him something for Christmas before his current docking station broke, so I can't push the boat out too much.

I can recommend the Pure I-20. It charges iPods, has remote control and a pretty stereo DAC.

Thanks for the recommendation, Gloomendoom, but sadly it is outside my budget.
