My home insurance recently ran out and has been auto renewed. It is still in the cooling off period so i can cancel with a £20 fee.
We are moving house hopefully in the next 2 weeks (only just found out) and i have considerably lower insurance quotes, so i wish to go with another insurer.
If i cancel my existing one im left uncovered for a couple of weeks.
If i keep and cancel later im left with a higher fee...
Any other options i have.
Thanks

I wouldn't risk being uninsured personally, even for a few days.
Cancel your current policy on day 14, take out a new one with another insurer and cancel that one on day 14? You'll end up paying 2 cancellation fees, but it might be cheaper than moving your exisating policy to the new home if your current insurer's rate for that home is uncompetitive.
(And obviously if your house burns down in the next couple of weeks and you have to make a claim on the interim policy you won't be able to cancel it - but that will probably be the least of your worries.)
Or see if you can find a short term policy - a quick Google suggests that short term home insurance does exist, though whether it's cheaper than cancelling during the cooling off period I don't know.0
