Hi
Just a quick note about a few tricks some scam plumbers operating. First of all I know that not all plumbers are cheats and it’s only a few who blacken the name…..well this concerns the few
Case one.
When performing a service at a reasonable price, but then strip the ignition wires slightly causing them to short out on the boiler case, which results in the boiler not firing up every time. After you ring them again they then say your main heater has gone and charge you an extortionate amount of money for it, this happened to two people I know.
Case two
I had a change over micro switch fail on my combi boiler, a corgi registered plumber turned up and said it was a valve and was going to cost £330 for the part plus vat plus fitting! I fixed the switch for £12.00!
The web is a fantastic source on information of ‘actual’ prices of boiler spares, do a search and challenge the cowboys.
Have a good weekend!
