so instead of walking into the kitchen to flick the kettle on (assuming you don't also need to fill it) you can sit in the next room and boil it and then walk into the kitchen to make the tea................

its more for in the morning, you can be laying in bed and stick the kettle on so that as soon as you get into the kitchen its boiled already! like the teasmaid things
