Bank changed my account details??

Hi,
Sorry if this is long..newbie!
I am a nationwide customer of 20years and until this month never had a problem with them. My account used to be in my and my ex husbands name but on divorcing he came off the account. All this was done in branch with relevant paperwork signed ect. This was 3years + ago. So since then all mail, new card ect has come to me in my name only. I have moved twice in the following years and remarried. Again no problems changing to new married name. Then when I received my latest email to say my statement was ready I noticed that my postcode was my ex husbands, as I was wondering about this my sister phoned to say she had received some money I had transferred to her but why was it showing my ex husbands name? I then went straight to the nationwide and asked why it was showing his name on the transfer and was told that the account was a joint account and it was registered to his address. When I said no that was not right they told me it had always been at that address and a joint account. This is not the case but what do I do about it. She has said she can change the address but will need my ex to sign paperwork to get him off the account. He shouldn't be on and I know he hasn't put himself on, my question is what can I do about the banks own cockup? Also how has someone managed to change anything without my permission?

Do you get paper statements? Take them to the branch and show what the situation has been for the last few years.

  • I don't get paper statements but my emails contain the postcode, showed them that and there response was oh!! You'd better do a change of address form!! I think I will have to do the complaint form as suggested by ffghugsf.
    Thanks for quick replies.

Most likely it was never changed in the first place.
  • If thats was the case surely the post I have recieved would have had both names on it as it did when we were married and they would have sent a new card to him, which would have come to me at one of my addresses? My problem now is I cant do my online shop as the address doesnt match the card address! Just gets better!!
  • Is it possible that the bank changed the address when you requested them to, but didn't update the postcode on their systems and you hadn't noticed until now?

With regards to transfer to your sister, could it be that you're using an internet banking logon that was originally setup by the ex and the logon details are in his name?
