Credit Agency Email

Hi Guys any advice much appreciated, I had an email today from a credit agency company claiming I owe sky 252 pound or around that. They have my name and old address but when I gave them my date of birth it was different to what they had on the system. As far as I'm aware I owe sky no money and certainly not this amount. I did have a small debt with them but I paid that off and I did have Sky at that address. What shall I do? I don't want this running my credit history but then I do have an experian account and this debt isn't showing up on my credit report. Like I said I really don't believe this debt to be mine at all but unsure what to do as I had problems with credit in the past and only just started to get my credit history back on track. I lived at this address about 2.5/3 years ago and have said they've sent countless letters etc.

The companies name chasing the debt was lucascreditservices

Thanks for any advice

    Hi

Start by sending the debt collectors the prove it letter. This states you have no knowledge of the debt - Letter when you know nothing about about the debt - AKA "Prove it" letter

  • Hi Tixy,

I rang them up and cause the DOB's didn't match they said they'd just delete my email from there system and i won't hear from them again. I'm just concerned as they had my name, right address when i was living there and that I was with Sky.

I wouldn't worry about it. Likely just a mistrace of their debtor.
Quite likely that the debt was not incurred at your old address, but just linked to you because the actual debtor has the same name as you.

To be certain you could get copies of your equifax and noddle/callcredit file as well, just to check that this debt doesn't appear at all.

  • I've just looked up on Noddle and Call credit nothing showing on there. However both of them are showing a default in my name from 3 the mobile company that my Experian credit file isn't? What do I do about this? I thought I had settled that account with 3.
