How to connect my new laptop to an interactive whiteboard???

Hi,
Bought a new laptop recently as my other one wasn't exactly 'Carrying it around to different places of work' friendly, but with my last laptop I was able to attach the interactive whiteboard cable directly to my laptop. However my new Acer Aspire E11 doesn't have this connector, only USB ports and a HDMI cable. Can anyone advise me as to whether there is a cable or attachment I could buy to allow me to connect to the whiteboards please.

Thanks in advance

Is it an old SMART Board that you are trying to connect to? The 500 series, which used a serial/RS232 connection?

If so there is a Serial to USB converter available but as the boards themselves are no longer supported by SMART they tend to be second hand and found on eBay mostly.
  • Thanks for all the responses.
As I travel around different schools, there are different makes and models of board, but they use the RS232 connections so I will have a look for a cable to use with that connection.

    Thanks for all your help
