I believe Iceland have banned palm oil from all their own label products. Not sure if that's for new product launches or whether it's coming out of existing products too.

    Don't think so.

Try a Google search for "Iceland foods" and "palm oil" and you get a lot of hits at groceries.iceland.co.uk.

They have definitely made it a stipulation on new products so hopefully it'll filter through over time. Only applies to their own label, they'll still stock branded products with palm oil in.

I can find no support for that statement.

Ethical Consumer searched the Iceland Foods website, https://www.iceland.co.uk, in November 2015 for the company's policy on the use of palm oil. The website made no mention of palm oil, despite the fact that the company manufactured goods under its own brand. As it did not state explicitly on its website that it avoided palm oil, Ethical Consumer considered it likely that it was using this product. Iceland therefore lost marks under Climate Change, Habitats and Resources and Human Rights categories.

The best I could find was a Facebook post that stated that "we prefer to use an oil that is more sustainable, such as coconut oil. We discourage our suppliers from using palm oil because there are so many issues surrounding it."

I walked past a fish and chip shop yesterday just as they were having a delivery of stock. On the back of the lorry there was about 100 boxes of 'Pure Palm Oil'. Presumably this is to fry the food in. Has put me right off chips now.
