Curry's Price Promise

I just wanted to warn anyone who wants to use Curry's price promise to take screen shots of competitors prices at the time. I emailed Curry's to match a price at Tesco (and themselves as the price had dropped) but by the time they looked at the price it had gone back up again so they were unable to match it. It was only a couple of pounds, but annoying nevertheless, especially as I was going to buy another 2 or 3 depending on whither they matched it or not.

So although all terms and conditions were met at the time of emailing them, they wouldn't match it! I thought it was worth posting as it may help someone in the future.

Why not purchase from the competitor's store in the first place?

The Price Promise isn't about getting Curry's to lower their price, it's a "promise" to refund the difference if you find the item cheaper elsewhere within 30 days (though I've not checked the terms and conditions to see how this plays out over the December/pre-Christmas time through to the January Sales.

If you actually read their price promise which is on their website they only match Argos, asda, JL, Tesco and AO.com. The price promise is for at the time of purchase or up to 7 days after not 30, it has to be exactly the same item and in stock with the other retailer.

It also clearly says to get your price promise to call them for online sales or go back to store for store purchases. If you chose to email instead and missed out that is not their fault, most companies have a longer turn around on email replies especially at this time of year.

I would sugget you rename the thread from "beware currys price promise" to "I didn't read the details and now feel hard done by".

Sounds like they were prepared to match the price that was showing at the time they checked. Annoying, but I can't see that they've done anything wrong as such. Luck of the draw, hopefully you'll be luckier next time :-)

Remember, too, that a price promise is completely optional for a retailer to offer, so if there are a few restrictions on it, you'll have to meet them.

A lot of threads on this board could be renamed that!

No wrong, as I said, I did read the details and don't feel hard done by as it was only a couple of pounds, but thought I may save someone else from possibly more if they take a screen shot of a lower price incase the price increases before they check it. The line was closed when I called. And I was only trying to be helpful! You can phone, go back to the store or email. I checked!
